SOL Breads exists today because a small group of passionate people recognised that bread should be and could be far better than what was commonly available. From humble beginnings in a small space situated in West End on Brisbane’s south side, SOL’s first bakers went about creating a range of handcrafted breads made from certified organic stoneground flours, using only natural fermentation techniques.
SOL’s range of breads has a strong emphasis on wholefood ingredients, without the use of chemical or other additives and agents, or the encouragement of farming techniques which degrade the environment.
Understanding the need for high quality, organic, gluten free bread, SOL Breads met this demand producing a range of wholegrain, delicious naturally leavened sourdoughs in a dedicated gluten free and wheat free environment. These products are also nut, dairy, egg, yeast and soy free and are free from artificial colours, preservatives or flavourings.
Demand has continued to grow, and so has the bakery and the product range. Although demand and production continue to expand, SOL Breads has not compromised on their founding principles. The challenge for SOL’s dedicated team of bakers has been to ensure that the product quality remains consistent.
SOL Breads now has three dedicated bakery cafés in Brisbane and one licensed store on the Gold Coast, as well as a large number of stockists (see ‘Available From’ section below). Just recently SOL Breads decided to go online and now offers home delivery for customers with a passion for their bread.
