Robyn provides a unique service to those who are distressed with gastrointestinal symptoms and who have developed psychological difficulties as a result of ongoing pain and discomfort. Also to those who may be struggling to maintain a gluten-free or other special diet.
Over the past 20 years Robyn has developed a special interest in this area because patients were referred to her experiencing anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks, and disordered eating associated with Coeliac Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, fructose malabsorption, and lactose intolerance. She has devised and developed programmes to assist in alleviating these difficulties which can achieve significant benefits.
These programmes have been shown to be beneficial to those experiencing grief, loss and trauma and who have been diagnosed with chronic and gastrointestinal disorders.
Robyn sees individuals (children and adolescents), couples and families and consults in Malvern East.
Groups commence regularly throughout the year to learn techniques and practise skills to manage stress, depression and anxiety. Robyn teaches mindfulness-based stress reduction and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy techniques. Small groups meet for 8 weeks, afternoons or evenings, for 1 1/2 hours a week. DVDs and handouts are included in the cost. For more information contact Robyn by email or website and to request a brochure on this successful programme.
Robyn has practised mindfulness meditation for many years, has fully trained to lead this specialised group, and, has facilitated successful groups since 2008.
