Figtree Churrasco Bar & Grill is a new dining experience for the Hunter and is fast becoming an extremely popular dining choice.
Churrasco (pronounced Shoo-Has-Ko), which means barbeque, originated many years ago in a region south of Brazil called the Pampas Gauchos, where one of the most precious cattle in the world are still located today.
Guests at Figtree can choose from the extensive a la carte menu or the 9-course Churrasco – a range of grilled meats (Churrasco available for complete tables only).
The a la carte mains include kingfish fillets, lamb rump, salmon fillet, snapper fillet (all gluten free), Garbanzo char grill or one kilogram Western Australian lobster (gluten free), all with appropriate accompaniments and sauces.
The grills are aimed at the serious meat eater, with steaks ranging from a 250g Riverine premium beef fillet to a whopping 600g dry-aged certified Angus tomahawk steak and a 300g high-country pork cutlet (all gluten free).
Most guests choose Figtree for the Churrasco (all gluten free). Even though there are seven or eight different cuts of meat and seafood waiting to be served by knife-wielding waiters, it’s impossible to resist the warm, salted flatbread (ask for gluten free bread) with a tomato and goat cheese dip, and the marinated and grilled baby octopus and apple-wood smoked flaked Hiramisa kingfish tapas.
Figtree Churrasco Bar & Grill also offers a choice of two stunning private dining rooms and a cocktail bar with a selection of traditional Brazilian and other popular cocktails. There is a stunning view from the restaurant which is located on the Penthouse Level (level 6) of The Gateway Inn, Newcastle.
